Day 1, Sept. 28 - Travel to Minot, North Dakota. Enjoy a free evening with socializing.
Smørbrød (Norweigan)
Day 2, Wednesday, Sept. 29 - Great Hall of the Vikings tickets (Wednesday – Friday) include all-day festival admission AND a reserved seat for the featured entertainer. Following the Parade of Flags, entertainers perform each day with more than 180 shows on six stages. Performers include yodelers, pianists, fiddlers, accordinonists, comedians, singers, and dancers representing all five Nordic countries. They delight audiences with their talent, while Scandinavian craftsmen and international chefs treat visitors with long-ago traditions through their handmade goods and sumptuous feasts. Activities include hands-on craft workshops and the tasting of Bache Gabrielsen cognac. Browse around, listen to music, and taste food from many different booths - sample some lutefisk and lefse! Uffdah! This afternoon, in the Great Hall of the Vikings, enjoy the featured entertainer, Alan Jackson. Stay overnight in the Grand International Hotel in Minot.
Alan Jackson was one of the most popular male country singers of the '90s. An heir to the new traditionalist movement of the '80s, Jackson's approach was rooted in classic honky tonk, yet remained within the contemporary mainstream.
Day 3, Thursday, Sept. 30 - Return to the Høstfest for another fun-filled morning and afternoon of Scandinavian entertainment, handicrafts, and food! Enjoy daily performances such as Bjoro Haaland, the Oak Ridge Boys, Leah Durelle, and the Patsy Cline Tribute by Kathy Bender. This afternoon, in the Great Hall of the Vikings, enjoy the featured entertainer, Vince Gill. Stay overnight in the Grand International Hotel in Minot.
"Vince Gill is quite simply a living prism refracting all that is good in country music. He uses the crystal planes of his songwriting, his playing, and his singing to give us a musical rainbow that embraces all men and spans all seasons." - Kyle Young / Country Music Foundation on Vince's induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Day 4, Friday, Oct. 1 - Enjoy admission to all exhibits, displays - a full day of continuous entertainment. Tonight, in the Great Hall of the Vikings, enjoy the featured entertainer, Daniel O’Donnell.
Daniel O'Donnell once said, "There are no words to describe the feelings that I get from an audience when I perform on stage. It is heaven on earth to me. Without the people who follow me I would not have this life. They say that when you ‘re doing a job that you love, you never work a day in your life. That is certainly the case with me."
Day 5, Saturday, Oct. 2 - This morning we head for home, sharing memories of enduring and fulfilling Scandinavian experiences with friends.
